Beijing Government and China Creative Industry Alliance Animation Industry Development Center announce Collaboration with Pigmental Studios in Washington, DC

During her trip to Beijing, Marina Martins, CEO of Pigmental Studios, visited Beijing Jintai Art Museum and met with executives and senior staffers from CCTV Animation, China Creative Industry Alliance Animation Industry Development Center and Animation Institute of Beijing Film Academy. Ms. Martins states “the challenges inherent in bringing beloved cultural stories to the screen that serves to enhance the creative process, demanding focused and candid communication, respect for the cultural identities and expectations, while searching for a way to introduce the stories to a worldwide audience who will learn to cherish the iconic characters as much as the people from where the literature originated”.

As China continues to open up more in the creative industry, animation has become an art form that is supported as representing the country’s cultural components and creativity. The discussion aimed to drive further efforts to bring more western animation industry talent to explore both culturally-infused and hands-on learning experiences with Chinese counterparts while strengthening the multiple stages within the creative processes of animation, such as storytelling, figure development and visualization.

The meeting reached a consensus to form an online education platform for international talents to showcase their animated films while engaging academic partners to develop curriculums for individual students and young professionals. – Thus, the Beijing government and the China Creative Industry Alliance Animation Industry Development Center are pursuing the effort to locate a creative ‘incubator’ and animation studio at the headquarters of Yiyuan Society in Beijing while developing a base in Washington DC with Pigmental to foster a sustainable and mutually-beneficial relationships for stakeholders in educational curriculums, co-production, professional interaction and content development.

The hottest animators in the industry are making Pigmental Studios their base of operations. Martins and Adam Miller are partnered with best in class of artists and technologists in the animation industry. The Pigmental team includes legends in the industry such as Iain McCaig, Marjolaine Tremblay and Stephen Platt just to name a few.
